The
Cyber Security Forum 2011 was held in association with the
Rustat Conferences
of Jesus College, Cambridge, and lead partner
PA Consulting Group, the leading management and IT consulting and technology firm. Conference production, marketing and registration are managed by
Media Symposia.
The Cyber Security Forum provides an opportunity to focus on the contribution cyber security currently makes and can make in the future to the UK economy. The conference was limited to 150 participants drawn from senior roles in government, industry and academia, ensuring quality and informed discussion. Conference speakers and participants considered the vision for Britain as a cyber smart economy, a data processing hub of global importance, and a safe place to do business - one of the challenges is to achieve confidence in the economy through security.
Other related topics discussed: skills and partnerships for fighting eCrime; the economics of security; the insider threat for businesses; innovation, R&D and the role of SMEs; sector specific sessions on finance, defence and content industries; and reflections on the new national cyber security strategy. Expert facilitators gave feedback on the stream sessions to plenary groups, and the conference report makes a series of recommendations and ideas for collaboration between government, industry and academia. Another important outcome of the conference report is a series of reflections by members of the Cambridge Cyber Defence Project on the new UK Cyber Security Strategy.
Conference partner
Infor mation and Communications Technology Knowledge Transfer Network (ICT KTN) and official supporters the
Office of Cyber Security & Information Assurance (OCSIA), the
Department for Business Innovation & Skills (BIS) and the
Information Assurance Advisory Council (IAAC) provided valuable input to the agenda and helped identify speakers and participants.
